Instructables are a series of instructions that are aimed at lightening up your day by having a bit of child like fun, something we definitely need from time to time. These instructables range from building a pillow fort, playing a game of lost object hunt, making your self a four legged creature or simply having a tea party with your "friends". any you have a go at send in a picture for a chance to win things

Forts, Everyone should build a pillow fort and here’s some steps to get you started. Here’s one i made

1.Location, find somewhere to set up. Location is key, you never know whats out there.

20200623_091935.jpg

2.Foundation/ frame. find a suitable foundation/ frame to build the fort over i.e. a couch, bed, desk/table, clothes maiden.

3.Build/ Reinforce walls. Use chairs, cushions and anything else you can get a hold of.

4.The Roof this will protect you from indoor aerial hazards and assaults. Use duvet for heavy weight or sheets and blankets for light weigh.

5.Create access in and out. Use larger cushions to provide movable/ sealable doors, cover openings.

6.Details make the legendary tales. Decorate your fort if allowed use more permanent materials such as paints, scissors for cutting holes or use removable details using paper/ cardboard so that you can paint on those instead.

7.Defend the keep, have someone else make a second fort so you can battle with paper balls.

Four Legged friend, if you can’t have a real dog follow these step and make your own sort of Grab a brew this is a long one

1. Gather your materials these will vary depending on what you can find 2. Start by carefully undoing the seams of the box and laying flat brown side up (it’s easier to draw on it this way) 3. Mark the width for the body making sure to add another line for the folding flaps. 4. Carefully cut along your top line (the bottom is a fold line) 5. Copy the position of the flaps and, once they’re cut, bend them along the line, this will help later 6. Take your tubes for the legs and trace around them. Leave space for the neck, don’t worry if you can’t leave any space between the legs 7. Cut them out being careful of any thin sections. You might pierce one point with a pencil to help with the cutting 8. Cut slightly into the top of the legs (this is so you can tape later) 9. The tube for the neck needs cutting on both ends, so you can attach to both the head and body 10. Repeat steps two – five to make the head but make this thinner than the body 11. Mark and cut the neck hole so it matches with the one on the body 12. Push the neck through the hole and fold down the flaps, adding tape to each flap 13. Fold the flaps on the head to make a box and tape them down. Make sure the brown side is the outside, this helps when drawing on it later 14. For the last flap, put tape halfway this will go on the inside, this step is a little fiddly 15. Push the legs through the leg holes leaving one flap up (this will angle the legs when taped) 16. Fold down the rest of the leg flaps and tape them, it doesn’t matter if the holes get covered over 17. Repeat last step with the head and neck this can be fiddly, you might need an extra pair of hands to help you 18. Carefully tape the body box together 19. Put tape on the outside of the body to seal any holes 20. Using any scraps, begin to personalise your four-legged thing using scissors to make spiky bits 21. Using pencils or crayons, colour in your four-legged thing (it doesn’t matter if there are parts you can’t reach)

Journey To Space (or somewhere else) watch this space for photos

1.Decide where you want to go

2.Gather your materials for the trip, cardboard boxes, scissors for cutting and a pencil for poking holes, sheets of paper, string for tying things to other things, any form of drawing/ painting material everything need a smiley face last but not least tape

3.find a window hopefully this is in your work area if not your on the move

4.Begin to draw the scene this will include making pieces of paper black, making up planets and possibly a sun who knows what you see in space

5.using the tape from the materials you brought, stick the scene to the window for extra brownie points on the other side draw a rainbow

6.you have been transported deep into space, then realise you can’t breathe in space, Quick make a helmet

7.Quickly grab a cardboard box that fits your head

8.We’re running out of time draw an oval shape on the box (face hole) cut it out you can deal with details later if no box that fits don’t worry i have a cunning plan

9.This step is for those who don’t have a box that fits. Grab a box that can cover your face but isn’t deep enough. draw and cut out the face hole, also cutting the other side of the box so that only the front and sides remain, make a hole in each side and attach a piece of string to tie to your head.

10.Take a deep breath you’ve earned it. Now you need planets to look as, this can be done by making paper balls and tying string on them

11.Build a mighty spaceship to visit far of lands (the fridge)

12.Start detailing things like buttons on the ship, helmet signs and knickknacks and colour your planets also whilst flying round space make a space port for when you need a rest

Alien Space Pirate masks

1.       Grab materials, you will need something to draw on this can be paper, card even neoprene (craft foam) avoid plastic especially bags EXTREME DANGER, you will need something to draw with. I recommend pencils, pens, crayons and oil pastels, you will also need something to cut out what you did, scissors or a kraft knife work best for both precise cuts and large areas, don’t use kitchen knives or a chainsaw. Lastly you will need something to attach the mask to your head string or tape on a stick work well, don’t use duct tape or rubber bands have you seen what they do to watermelons

2.       Draw your crew, when drawing your crew make crazy shapes as they make the best pirates, consider how many eyes do they have 1, 2, 10 or none, are they a man, lady, or rock creature

3.       Time for a splosh of colour so get scribbling and scrawling, does it have fur or feathers, stone or slime. For fur draw lines in one general direction crossing over to build up the fuzz and for slime use multiple colours that are similar till it looks all glossy

4.       Now comes the delicate part, carefully cut out your space aliens making sure to cut out the captain first of course, if you are using string make two small square holes roughly where your ears are.

5.       Attaching the stick or string, to do this for the string tie a large knot in the end big enough to not fall through the hole, carefully measure your head by holding the string to your ear listening to what is says then wrap string around to your other ear, this is how long it needs to be. Cut and pass the not knotted end through the square hole till the knot stops, feeding the string around the back of your head and through the other hole and making a knot in the end again big enough to not fall back through, adjust to tightness desired.

6.       If using a stick get some tape and cut a piece off and stick that stick to it.

You are now ready for space pirate adventures enjoy.

How to find, catch and care for a pet rock

1.       Wash you dirty rocks, carefully wash your rocks using just water as soaps can dry the rocks out only use them if entirely necessary. Water temperature can be varying as you figure out what they like

2.       Make a bed for your rocks, for this instance we will look at small garden rocks see the R.S.F.G for bedding and care for other rocks. You can either make a pen so that they can have a natural habitat, this can be done using anything from cardboard boxes, chicken wire or wood. If the pen isn’t for you, you can bring them inside as rocks are naturally well house trained.

3.       Consider what type of bedding to use, the R.S.F.G notes that small garden rocks prefer fresh or dried grass and wood shavings can be used for indoor rocks. For outdoor rocks the R.S.F.G notes that a bed near a pond/ water feature is a great way to both keep well-watered and easily cleaned

4.  Last but  not least Decorate your rocks, due to rocks having a hard external layer they are versatile to how you decorate them, paint works well for more long term outfits where as small cloths offer a seasonal change of outfits/ costumes. Rocks do not have eyes; they see by sensing vibrations and moisture. So, by giving your rocks eyes this enhances their senses making them like a raccoon in that it they can see with its eyes and hands. Paint and googly eyes make great… eyes, alternatively the R.S.F.G also notes that sharpie works well for simple eyes.

Now you know how to Find, catch and care for Pet rocks

Flat Pack Frame

Materials you will need: Pencil, Picture you want to frame, Cardboard bigger than your picture, craft knife, straight edge, tape and scissors, optional paint/things to add colour

1.       Get the piece of cardboard and your picture and carefully mark around the picture, roughly in the centre of the cardboard. Once done move picture aside.

2.       Now carefully score along the lines, DO NOT CUT TOO DEEP as you will need to fold these later

3.       Next mark four diagonal lines from each corner of the scored lines towards the centre of the cardboard. These will be cut straight through later. Connecting the diagonal lines to make a small square/rectangle in the centre.

4.       Now split the four shapes into three by drawing two lines along their length. These also need to be gently scored to fold later. Once done draw and score some tabs, these will make it so you can flatpack the frame for easy storage.

5.       Start cutting out what remains of the centre, so that the tabs are only connected by the score line. Once the middle has been removed cut through the diagonal lines so that you can now start to fold them.

6.       Finally fold all the parts you previously scored, folding them into a box like shape. Now add tape to the tabs to hold it together, alternatively you can also make holes where the tabs line up so that they can slot in and be taped down.
